The decision to launch the token did not go down well with most Defilama contributors who have now openly rejected it.
A dispute is brewing between the staff of the decentralized finance analytics dashboard Defilama. According to an employee simply identified as 0xngmi, the company’s founders are planning to launch the ‘LLAMA’ token without seeking employee support.
Comparing the plan to a “hostile takeover”, 0xngmi has now distanced itself and other developers from the proposed launch. Hence, causing the team of developers to fork a new version of the Blockchain Data Platform. In a Twitter thread dated March 19, 0xngmi wrote In part:
“There is an effort underway to launch a token that does not represent us. We do not want to be associated with it.”
Defilama had hinted about an upcoming token airdrop following an announcement that its aggregator platform has reached $5 billion in volume. Interestingly, the platform was launched only in January.
The decision to launch the token, however, did not go down well with most Defilama contributors, who have now openly rejected it. a pseudonym 0xKofi raised concerns that the person who registered Defilama’s Twitter and domain was pushing the token launch agenda. What’s more, that person is doing this against the wishes of everyone else on the team. Tendino, another contributor to Llama Corp projects, took to Twitter Write,
“Long story short, someone was planning to launch the Llama token without the approval of a single person on the Defilama team.”
Defilama replied, said resolution is underway
According to DeLama’s parent company, Llama Corp., there is no such thing as a hostile takeover. A post on the company’s Round Up Telegram account states that if anything, 0xngmi and others are seeking to seize the Defilama IP and community by misrepresenting the rightful owner.
Nonetheless, the company says that it hopes to resolve things in a private and amicable manner at the earliest.
Defilma was co-founded by Charlie Watkins and Ben Hauser, both of whom have always kept a low profile.
