Disgraced biotech entrepreneur and hedge fund manager Martin Shkreli has published a finding that appears to prove who is the real person behind the pseudonym satoshi nakamoto Is. But, he Bitcoin The community isn’t convinced yet.
The discovery was shared in a blog Post published on Tuesday, where Shkreli decrypted a signature from the first bitcoin transaction ever made. Decryption can be done using “any decryption tool,” Shkreli wrote in the comments section.
As is known from the early days of bitcoin, the first transaction was sent from bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto to American programmer and cyberpunk community member Hal Finney.
Shkreli’s blog post said:
The following is the bitcoin wallet Hal Finney used to receive the first bitcoin transfer from Satoshi.

Is Paul Le Roux Satoshi?
Given that the wallet address has been confirmed to be Hal Finney’s, Shkreli’s finding implies that Finney himself wanted to reveal that Paul Le Roux was Satoshi Nakamoto.
Paul Le Roux is a programmer, criminal mastermind, and informant for the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence in the US, which was handed down to him in June 2020 for his role in arranging or participating in seven murders, as well as leading a global illegal business empire.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that it has been suggested that Le Roux is Satoshi. In 2019, a Wired Article Said that many signs are pointing to Le Roux being Satoshi, even though no concrete evidence has been presented.
skeptical community
According to community members who commented under Shkreli’s blog post, it is entirely possible that the signature on the wallet was written by none other than Hal Finney. This is because the wallet was last activated in 2017, three years after Finney passed away.
According to some commentators, one possibility is that Phinney’s family sold access to the entire wallet to a buyer after his passing, rather than sending the coins on-chain. It makes sense that this was in the relatively early days of bitcoin when a certain level of technical know-how was required to make transactions.
A user named BitMax14 wrote, “The address was last used in 2017, while Hal died in 2014. So someone has Hall’s private key for that address and signed that crap message.” Huh.”
The same user accused Shkreli of “being used to spread that lie,” asking who sent him the message and signature.
Other users followed suit, with prominent bitcoin proponent and author Saifedean Ammos saying:
“Since these private keys have been active since Hal’s death, the most interesting question here is: how did you get this message?”
Shkreli did not answer any questions about who told him about the signature and the message, but went into some more detail in a follow-up. Post Published on Wednesday:
“A few days ago I received a message that I clearly thought was a joke: there is a new signed message by the recipient of the first bitcoin. I get a lot of freaks who call me ‘discoveries.’ But sometimes they’re real. Happening: Lil Wayne’s Carter V album appears at auction for a luxury car.
“It All Fits In”
Although many commentators were skeptical of the idea that Paul Le Roux is Satoshi Nakamoto, some supported the idea.
“It all fits. He had motivation, incentive. Movement of illegal profits. Very complex character. Controversial. Highly intelligent but arrogant,” wrote a user named bellwardboy, adding:
“Satoshi disappeared after Gavin Andresen said he would talk to the CIA. I think it fooled Le Roux. That’s the real reason ‘Satoshi’ disappeared.”
