Per BFM TVThe study was conducted by the Association for the Development of Digital Assets (Aden) and the French branch of accountancy giant KPMG.
The parties conducted a similar study last year and found that more than three-quarters of respondents said they knew what cryptoassets were.
But 85% of people in this year’s study said they knew about crypto.
“Cryptocurrencies are beginning to enter the lives of the French,” the media outlet said.
As part of their research, the firms spoke to 1,976 people aged 18 and over.
They also found that “the number of crypto holders has increased by 18% compared to 2022.”
In contrast, in 2021, around 6.7% of French people owned the coin.
Jean-Noël Barot, Minister of Digital Transition and Telecommunications, was quoted as saying:
“Our citizens have become familiar with cryptocurrencies. It is a practice that has become part of daily life for the French.”
French Crypto Adoption: Who’s Buying The Coins?
The data shows that crypto adoption is particularly notable among “young people” and “men”.
Over 17% of respondents in the 18-35 age group said they owned coins.
Most of the respondents (64%) said that bitcoin (btc) was their “favorite cryptocurrency,” while Binance (39%) was their preferred exchange.
Coinbase was in second place with 28%, followed by Revolut (20%).
