On January 17th, the popular email marketing platform Mailchimp announced a data breach – and Yuga Labs is among the victims! Accordingly, the Bored Ape Yacht Club creators are still going through the details to see how their Mailchimp account was affected. However, they did tweet the community a warning to ‘stay safe and vigilant’ to avoid any potential scams.
Did The MailChimp Data Breach Affect Yuga Labs?
Earlier today, Yuga Labs revealed that Mailchimp’s recent data breach affected them too. In a long Twitter thread, the team explained that an anonymous hacker might’ve accessed their account on the platform. However, Yuga Labs claims ‘no evidence suggests they exported any data.’
In addition, the team mentioned that their Mailchimp account included several email campaigns and therefore a limited number of people. Yuga Labs promised to contact any user via their official email address (@yugalabs.io) if they discover their data was affected by the Mailchimp breach.
Lastly, the founding team advised their community to keep an eye out for any potential scams. These may include surprise mints, DM requests for private information or passcodes, and fake announcements.
How can you learn to stay safe?
Since Yuga Labs posted their tweet, many users started wondering how to keep their own accounts safe. The first step is to read through every smart contract before signing it. Next, make sure to set complex passwords to each account and to always keep your seed phrase private.
