The pair currently have three other joint sides like DimeADozen and plans to create even more.
Two friends recently leveraged their rare artificial intelligence (AI) skills to build a six-figure business. According to CNBC reportIt took just four days for the friends – Sal Aiello and Monica Powers – to create a side hustle called “DimeEdozen.”
DimeADozen is an AI-supported research tool that helps budding entrepreneurs research their markets in the best way.
Aiello and Powers met at a virtual startup founder meetup event last year and quickly entered into a working relationship. At that time, he also needed help as he planned to come up with a business idea. So, they thought of taking their ideas forward to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, hoping that the chatbot would help point them in the right direction.
However, he soon discovered he had an unusual skill: knowing what to ask ChatGPT and getting targeted answers.
This realization gave birth to DimeADozen this March. The tool requires entrepreneurs to fill out a form about their business idea before using the information to get the best results from ChatGPT.
For a fee of $39, “aspiring-entrepreneurs” can receive comprehensive reports about their business ideas in record time.
‘AI prints money’, happy duo declares
For Aiello and Powers, the business venture has proven to be a lucrative one. Aiello believes this is another sign that AI really does print money.
The duo made more than $66,000 in profits within seven months, according to documents reviewed by CNBC Make It. This is even more impressive considering they only spent $185 total on the web domain and hosting.
Interestingly, the partners also recently reached an agreement to sell the business to a potential buyer for $150,000. Aiello says that a couple named Felipe Arosemena and Danielle de Cornell are willing to pay the said amount and make Dimaidozen their full-time job.
Aiello and Powers have confirmed that they intend to remain as advisors to the company’s new owners. Working about 5 hours a week, Powers and Aiello would continue to use their quick engineering skills to change and update the prompt parameters. This may be necessary given that there are reports Poor performance from ChatGPT too. Therefore, there is always a risk of AI hallucination where chatbots release information that seems reasonable but is far from reality.
Aiello is a longtime CTO for a tech startup, and Powers is a product designer who currently runs a strategic design and branding company called Mascot. The pair currently have three other joint sides like DimeADozen and plans to create even more.
