Popular gaming giant Animoca Brands has announced the acquisition of Web 3.0 streaming platform Azarus as part of its Metaverse gaming revolution. Animoca will seek to leverage Azarus’ cutting-edge technology to improve its web 3.0 Game streaming capabilities.
Although monetary terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, this is not the first time Animoca Brands will invest in web3 game companies. To date, it has funded hundreds of such companies as it seeks to establish its place as a leader in the rapidly growing Web3 sector.
Animoca Brands eyes a more interactive, player-owned gaming economy
With the new acquisition, Animoca hopes to integrate Azarus’ depth in blockchain-powered game streaming with its experience in digital game development and publishing. But, most importantly, the deal will help Animoca achieve its long-term goal of building a player-controlled gaming ecosystem. It is a type of economy where players, game developers, and streamers have full control of their digital asset rights.
According to Animoca, this unprecedented Web 3.0 deal will bring about a sea change in the gaming culture. And now, gamers can open up new revenue sources and reward their audiences, essentially incentivizing all participants – creators and viewers alike.
Echoing the Hong Kong-based firm’s views, Animoca CEO Yat Siu said the acquisition was natural. Siu also reminds how both companies share a similar belief in the transformative power of Web 3.0 technology. part of his statement reads,
“Together, we look forward to redefining the streaming landscape, aligning it with a more interactive, rewarding and open metaverse.”
‘More opportunities for hosts and creators’, promises Azaras
While viewers can choose to redirect revenue to their favorite creators, Azars also provides them with a unique opportunity to naturally drive viewers to off-stream destinations. These destinations may include brand assets, e-commerce or other Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 games.
Regarding the acquisition, Azarus CEO Alexander Casasovici also confirmed that the deal with Animoca enhances the firm’s outlook. He said in a statement:
“We’re not just growing streaming; We are leading a movement where every viewer becomes an active participant, and every stream becomes an immersive experience.
Azaras has promised to encourage creators to broadcast on the metaverse. Hopefully, this will open up more sponsorship opportunities for event hosts, and also open up new ways to reward fan activity.
Azarus is popular for its video stream wallet and games that instantly attract viewers by layering over the player. Azarus has partnered with many top brands and has distributed over $2 million in prizes to over 20 million unique players to date.
