Gavin Andresen, Former Chief Bitcoin Developer hired by Satoshi Nakamoto now regrets backing controversial Australian computer scientist craig wright,
writing on my personal blog Earlier this month, Andresen called it “a mistake” to trust Craig Wright, adding that he regrets “getting sucked into the ‘who is (or isn’t) Satoshi’ game.”
“I don’t believe in the rewriting of history, so I’m going to leave this post. But a lot has happened in the seven years since I wrote this, and I know now that trusting Craig Wright was a mistake.” than I did,” Andresen wrote on his blog.
The new statement was added on top of the original post from 2016 where Gavin Andresen announced his support for Wright.
The original 2016 statement came after Wright, during a meeting in London, presented what Andresen called “cryptographic evidence” that he was the creator of bitcoin, including a digital signature that Andresen believed Could only be made by Satoshi.
Worth noting, however, is that even Andresen, in his original interview at the time, admitted that he may have been wrong.
“As more evidence comes to light … it’s possible I’m wrong. I don’t think I am, but we’ll see,” Andresen said after his first meeting with Wright.

Judging by the comments on Twitter, Andresen’s admission that trusting Wright was “a mistake” has already made a significant impact, with some now coming out and saying they no longer believe Wright’s actions. Has anything to do with the creation of bitcoin.
Others also questioned the timing of Andresen’s admission, for example popular bitcoiner Hodlonaut pointed out how hard-right supporter Calvin Ayre had linked to Andresen’s original statement in a tweet a few days earlier.
Meanwhile, some also speculated that why it took Andresen seven years to reach the conclusion that most of the community reached much earlier was because he had signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) prior to the private meeting with Wright. .

In 2011, Andresen was announced by Satoshi as the lead developer of the bitcoin protocol after the inventor himself withdrew from the project.
