Details Revealed So Far on the Automotive AI Initiative
By combining Nvidia’s GPU and AI technology with MediaTek’s chipset, Huang suggested that the last feature will raise the bar in automobile in-car user experience.
Nvidia develops GPUs for a number of personal-oriented user devices, including laptops, desktops, workstations, and servers. Additionally, the leading US software and fabless company also provides systems-on-chips (SoCs) for automotive and robotics applications. MediaTek plans to integrate these sophisticated GPU chiplets into its own automotive SoCs for advanced automobile AI technology.
The specially developed automotive SoCs from Taiwan’s fabless semiconductor company will incorporate Nvidia AI and graphics intellectual property into its design architecture. The Nvidia chiplets will also be linked by ultra-fast chiplet interconnect technology.
Other details about the upcoming joint chipset model including its name or specifications are unknown. However, information suggests that the automotive AI offering will be from the MediaTek Dimensity Auto range. Additional information also reveals that a new operating system will power the upcoming infotainment system. As per reports, MediaTek will integrate Nvidia Drive OS, Drive IX, CUDA and TensorRT software technologies with the new operating system. Alternatively, the integrated infotainment development Nvidia Drive platform provides more in-vehicle options for automakers.
