Michael Greaves, father of digital twins, to headline conferences at IoT Solutions World Congress
The Congress event will be attended by more than 250 experts from companies such as DuPont, Ford, Lego and Walmart.
The IoT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC), the largest international event dedicated to industry transformation through disruptive technologies, will feature Michael Greaves, the father of the digital twin concept, as a speaker at its 2023 edition. From January 31 to February 2, the event will feature over 400 exhibitors and 250 experts who will take the stage to speak on disruptive technologies and solutions that are transforming industries.
Organized by Fira de Barcelona in partnership with the Industry IoT Consortium® (IIC™), the 2023 edition of IOTSWC will structure its congress program into six horizontal tracks or phases with the aim of providing a new cross-industry approach: Industry IOT, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twins (DT), Edge Computing, Augmented Reality and 5G. The conferences and sessions will feature top international speakers and present use cases that provide clear examples of how disruptive technologies are fundamentally changing businesses.
Featured speakers are Dr. Michael Greaves, Executive Director and Chief Scientist of the Digital Twin Institute and an international expert in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). Greaves is widely recognized as the father of the digital twin following a 2002 conference on PLM at the Society of Manufacturing Engineers in Michigan. The idea, originally dubbed DoubleGanger, became known as the digital twin during Greaves’ collaboration with NASA while developing a technology. Roadmap in 2010. Greaves has over five decades of extensive executive and in-depth technical experience in both global and entrepreneurial technology and construction companies.

Barcelona Cyber Security Congress
On 2023, IOTSWC will be held jointly with the Barcelona Cyber Security Congress (BCC), an international event focused on the field of cyber security, which will hold its fourth edition at the Gran Via venue. Organized jointly by Fira de Barcelona and Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya, the body responsible for cyber security in Catalonia for both society and public administration, the Congress will focus on the importance of raising or avoiding digital security levels of all companies and industries. for or to reduce the impact of attacks by cybercriminals. BCC will also host an exhibition area and a hacking village where ethical hackers will be able to showcase their skills and help companies identify vulnerabilities in their systems to improve their security.

Following the success of the first co-located edition of IOTSWC and Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in 2022, the two events have decided to continue their co-location. In the first joint edition, the events explored common ground between the two disparate sets of disruptive technologies and the potential they provide to attendees and exhibitors. Thus, visitors will again be able to access the exhibition areas of both events at no additional cost, while IOTSWC representatives will receive a 50% discount if they wish to register for any ISE.
