After hosting a podcast for about a year, yesterday I got to interview a fellow podcast host for the first time. Austin is Head of Communications at Federa solana Foundation, but also hosts the Validated Podcast, a Web3 podcast relaunched last year.
The conversation was about Solanas – at least in part – but we quickly got lost in a rambling conversation. we started talking about journalism and podcasting crypto Sharing our thoughts on tribalism in the space, crypto space. We discussed how damaging this is to the space at large and how, well, the whole attitude might be curious.

Of course, we’ve also done crypto good. Austin is clearly passionate about Web3 and the change it can bring to the world, so it was fascinating to hear his thoughts. He also talked about the insights he gained from hosting the Validated podcast.
Politics has gotten into it too, we’ve been talking about how divided the world is right now, and how attitudes towards crypto are affected by this – in fact, I picked his brain on whether populist politics and the popularity of crypto There was a connection between
As well as crypto, Austin gave his background, an interesting mix of different experiences working at the Solana Foundation – including a very telling story about a bankrupt company betting on ERC-20 tokens in the early days. Entertaining anecdotes are also included. Krypto’s (I won’t spoil the story).
i wanted to ask about Bitcoin, and Austin also reiterated one of my favorite sayings – “Bitcoin is meant to be boring” – something I love to emphasize in my analysis. An aromantic thing to say, but a fact – at least if you ask me.
We also touched on the bear market, as I looked forward to hearing Austin’s declining interest and volume, which is something the space has suffered over the past year, something Web3 certainly isn’t immune to. With so many guests hosted on Validated, it was an interesting approach.
Then there’s the future – what everyone wants to know! Austin talked about his thoughts on where Web3 is headed, how viable the technology is, and what that future might look like.
Overall, this was a really fun discussion about the state of crypto in general, and Austin has an interesting background with a perceptible energy for the space. Next time, we’ll have to talk a little more about Solanas…
