NABU said its efforts would be “financially supported” by the US State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
As part of the drive, NABU said, “more than 250 detectives and analysts” have begun “studying” the cryptocurrency.
NABU has called cryptoassets a “tool of modern ‘corruption'”.
The bureau said it “understands” that “top” corruption criminals in the country “try to store, use and hide a significant portion of their illicit wealth” in cryptocurrencies.
It claimed that the initiative would include a nine-month training program covering “cryptocurrency techniques” and “how to investigate crimes using cryptoassets”.
NABU wrote:
“This is the largest training course in the bureau’s history.”
It also claimed that both domestic and global “experts” and “experts” in crypto would provide training sessions.
These will include “representatives of the crypto community and developers of analytical tools”.
The bureau said the session would end in January 2024.
